Weekly Activities

The Little Red Hen lives with Cat, Dog and Goose. One day she finds some grains of wheat. She wants to plant them and tend to them but none of her friends will help her so she does all the work herself. When it is time to harvest the wheat and turn it into flour, again none of her freinds will help her. When she decides to make bread, none of her friends will help her, but, when they smell the bread they all want to help her eat it. She tells them that she did the work alone so she is going to eat it alone.  Should the Little Red Hen share? Making our own Little Red Hens Two of the qualities of a friend that the children have identified are being helpful and sharing. This book opens up some questions and leaves it up to each to decide for themselves how they feel. What happens when these two qualities do not necesarily coincide? Is one needed in order for the other to be present? We will be exploring this question for the next two weeks.
