The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza

This story is set as a sequel to the classic tale of The Little Red Hen. After eating her bread the little red hen decides to make a pizza. She again asks for help from her three friends the cat, the dog and the goose for each step of her recipe and each time they decline. This time, when the pizza is done, she does share it with them. They are all so glad that they offer to help her clean up. The children were intrigued by the ending of this story. The whole story was the same, the friends didn't help her do anything, but at the end she chose to share. This provoked a change in her grateful friends. We pulled these thoughts back to the qualities of a friend the children identified weeks ago: sharing and helpfulness. Does this mean one precedes the other?  The children decided that helping each other and the teachers was fun. They chose to help make play dough. The play dough became play pizzas. Each child likes something different on their pizza, but in order to have the bes
